Backing Our Students: CIA Heads to Toronto Model UN with Local Support
When young people from St. Maarten step onto an international stage, it matters. A delegation of students from Caribbean International Academy (CIA) is traveling to Toronto, Canada to participate in a Model United Nations (Model UN) conference. They’ll be representing St. Maarten in a setting built around diplomacy, research, public speaking, and real negotiation — the kind of experience that pushes students to grow fast. This isn’t just a school trip. It’s a serious opportunity. Showing up as a team As the students prepare for the conference, George Pelgrim, through Intermar, stepped in to support the group by contributing toward the design and purchase of team hoodies. It’s a simple thing on paper — but it’s not small. When a team arrives looking organized and unified, it builds pride, confidence, and presence. It tells the world: these students came prepared, and they came together. What Model UN actually teaches Model UN is basically a live simulation of how the United Nations work
