Reinforcing Commitment to Operational Excellence

This past February, George Pelgrim, President and CEO of St. Maarten Shipping & Stevedoring (SSS), made a strategic visit to Taylor International’s headquarters in Louisville, Mississippi. As a long-standing partner of Taylor, SSS remains committed to maintaining strong relationships with the manufacturers and service providers who play a critical role in our daily port operations.

Taylor equipment has been central to our logistics infrastructure for many years. Their heavy-duty reach stackers, forklifts, and container handling machines are vital to supporting the high volume and efficiency required at the Port of St. Maarten. The objective of this visit was to deepen the technical dialogue around our current fleet, discuss future upgrades, and align on support strategies that keep our operations running at peak performance.

George spent time meeting with Taylor’s leadership and technical teams, gaining insights into their latest innovations, production processes, and aftermarket support programs. Conversations centered on emerging technologies like onboard telematics, enhanced diagnostic tools, and proactive maintenance solutions designed to extend the lifespan and dependability of critical equipment.

There was also a focused discussion on improving regional service responsiveness and exploring ways to localize spare parts access, which remains a key factor in minimizing operational downtime. Touring the factory and rebuild facilities offered an up-close look at Taylor’s capabilities and the precision behind their machinery.

At SSS, we understand that operational efficiency is built on strong, reliable partnerships. Visits like these help us stay ahead of industry shifts and reinforce our commitment to delivering exceptional service at the port. We extend our appreciation to the entire Taylor International team for their hospitality and continued support, and we look forward to expanding this relationship as we scale our operations across the Caribbean.
